Why use an Employment Agency?

  1. Professional Service

    Although many large companies employ their own legal staff, accountants and medical people, they all retain and use the services of legal firms, chartered public accountants and etc. Their lawyers consult with specialists in taxes, litigation, contracts and etc. They use chartered public accountants to aid and check their own accounting staff, because they are specialists. They know that professionals are necessary and valuable and they utilize their services to aid them in getting the job done. The same thing applies to their personnel requirements.

    Because we are dealing with literally thousands of applicants and firms, we can aid them. We know availability, required salary ranges, wants and needs. We Know The “Market Place”.

  2. Greater Selection and Complete Information

    Most of the applicants registered with us are employed and only search for positions through us. It is a well-known fact that the “better” applicants percentage wise are those that are employed. The employer could advertise from now on and never see these people, whereas, though our computerized referral and reactivation programs, we are able to make contact with qualified applicants for the employer.

    The applicant is described in detail to the employer prior to the interview, the name may be withheld if proper authorization has not been received. The company knows all of the basic details, such as education, experience, personality, willingness to relocate, etc. prior to even interviewing the applicant.

  3. Confidentiality

    In many cases a company is replacing an employee who is still working. Through our services, the employer can interview qualified applicants and hire one in confidence without upsetting his/her daily schedule. Many times when a company runs an ad in the newspaper, it is besieged by an excessive number of unqualified applicants. All of our applicants are interviewed “in-depth” therefore, the employer interviews only a small number of qualified applicants saving him precious time, and of course, getting the position filled, which in many instances, is critical. Do you have time to interview 100 applicants? Do you have time to interview 3? Our search for ideal candidates is continuous!

  4. Inexpensive

    Just as in the applicant’s case, there is no obligation on the company’s part to pay the fee unless they hire the applicant that we have referred to them, and then, only if they have agreed to do so prior to interviewing. When you consider the advertising expense saved, plus the pre-screening expense saved and most important of all getting their desired employee fast, therefore saving the expense of having a position unfilled for an extended period of time, the expense involved is nominal. The fee is a tax-deductible item.

    If the applicant you hire by using your own sources proves unsatisfactory, YOU have to repeat the process and incur the additional cost of recruitment (advertising / man hours).

Slate's Guarantee

  1. Permanent Commitment
  2. Every placement comes with a 90-day replacement guarantee. This means that we will replace the candidate free of charge should the placement fall off. As we are committed to maintaining our relationship with your business, Slate Personnel has revised our long-term structured placement guarantee option. If, for any reason the candidate is not suitable after the 90-day replacement guarantee expires, we will provide a replacement candidate on a structured fee system.

  3. Temporary Staffing Guarantee
  4. As an industry leader, we are fully confident with our ability to meet your temporary staffing needs. All temporary staff provided are employees of Slate Personnel. The candidate is to be utilized by your organization, as you require. There is no commitment required on your part to retain the employee or any of the overhead costs associated with the hiring of an employee. You simply provide us with a job description and we provide a candidate that meets your needs.

  5. Slate Personnel Temporary to Permanent Hiring Option
  6. Occasionally, a temporary placement will option into a permanent opportunity for a candidate. Our ongoing commitment to serving our clients is reflected in our structuring of a Temporary to Permanent bonus system.

    The fee structure for hiring a temporary employee on a permanent basis is as follows:

    • After a client has utilized a Slate Personnel temporary candidate for 16 consecutive weeks (or more) and maintained a current billing payment system, the temporary staff candidate can be hired on with your organization for no additional charge. It is simply our way of thanking you for your business.

    Slate Personnel Ltd. is a member in good standing with the Human Resource Institute of Alberta (HRIA), the Association of Canadian Search, Employment & Staffing Solutions (ACSESS), American Staffing Association (ASA), and the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce.

    The Human Resource Institute of Alberta (HRIA) assists in the improvement and effectiveness of Alberta organizations by understanding the changing environment of organizations and society, by enhancing the professionalism of the Human Resources practice through certifying and developing members through professional partnerships. These improvements and/or suggestions are implemented after monthly group meetings and discussions on today’s workplace.

    The Association of Canadian Search, Employment & Staffing Solutions (ACSESS) is a membership association for employment agencies with over 22 agencies that place both temporary and permanent staff. ACSESS has a branch office located in Edmonton with its head office based in Toronto, Ontario. Slate Personnel Ltd. forms part of the membership committee. Monthly guest speakers address meaningful issues that surround the temporary placement industry and brainstorming meetings are held which assist recruiters to receive feedback and share success stories.

Code of Ethics

    As members of the Association of Canadian Search, Employment & Staffing Services(ACSESS), we recognize our obligation to those we serve as providers of employment and staffing services and to those we employ. To ensure that these obligations are met to the fullest possible extent, we pledge adherence to this code.

    1. We will serve our clients, candidates and employees faithfully, with integrity and professional responsibility.
    2. We will observe the highest principles of honesty and fair practice in dealing with clients, candidates, employees and all regulatory authorities; and will respect the confidentiality of records in accordance with law and good business practices.
    3. We will provide leadership in the adherence to both the spirit and letter of all applicable human rights, employment laws and regulations. We will treat all candidates and employees without prejudice and will not accept an order from any client that is discriminatory in any way.
    4. We will take all reasonable steps to provide clients with accurate information on each candidate's employment qualifications and experience; and will only present those candidates who have given us authorization to represent their application for employment.
    5. We will supply candidates and employees with complete and accurate information as provided by the client, regarding terms of employment, job descriptions and workplace conditions.
    6. We will not recruit, encourage or entice a candidate whom we have previously placed to leave the employ of our clients, nor will we encourage or coerce an individual to leave any assignment before completion.
    7. We will not restrict the right of a candidate or employee to accept employment of their choice.
    8. We will not misuse membership privileges for the purpose of recruiting a member's staff, or in any way that may otherwise injure our candidates, employees or competitors.
    9. We will derive income only from clients and make no direct or indirect charges to candidates or employees unless specified by a license.
    10. We will maintain the highest standards of integrity in all forms of advertising, communications and solicitations; and will conduct our business in a manner designed to enhance the operation, image and reputation of the employment, recruitment and staffing services industry.
    11. We will recognize and respect the rights and privileges of competitors in the true fashion of individual initiative and free enterprise and refrain from engaging in acts of unfair competition.
    12. We will ensure that our clients, candidates and employees are aware of our duty to abide by this Code of Ethics and will undertake to bring any potential infringements before the appropriate Association body.
