Slate Training Centre
Slate Training Centre provides computer and business training to individuals in need of updating, or acquiring the necessary computer skills to compete in today’s highly competitive job market.
Slate Training Centre offers various Diploma and Certificate programs. Whether you are starting a new career and have no work experience or you have extensive work experience and just need some software skills to increase your employability, STC has a program for you!
In 1998, the training centre introduced five provincially licensed full-time Diploma programs ranging in length from 19-26 weeks. The response to these programs has been very positive; confirming that there is a need for computer proficiency in today’s job seekers. While each of the Diploma programs has seen many successes over the last couple of years, the training centre identified that there is a need for shorter-term training for individuals who already have office experience. In response to this need, Slate Training Centre launched three licensed full-time Certificate programs, ranging in length from 8-12 weeks, last year. The Certificate programs are designed to provide individuals who have office experience with the computer skills they need to obtain full-time employment as quickly as possible.
Much of the success for graduates of the training centre can be attributed to the individualized training approach that is used to assist students in developing time management and organization skills. Together, with training in a simulated business environment, students are using and developing skills on a daily basis that will assist them in their employment. On-going job search support is provided to assist students in preparing for, and obtaining, long-term and meaningful employment.
